A new project that will enable collaboration between Maths4DL researchers and colleagues in Japan has been announced. The ASPIRE (Adopting Sustainable Partnerships for Innovative Research Ecosystem) programme in Japan is an international collaborative research programme enabling the networking of top scientists working on common research themes. The joint proposal, submitted by Prof Chris Budd (Bath) and Prof Takaharu Yaguchi (Kobe University, Japan) will see Maths4DL working with international colleagues from the University of Tokyo, Osaka University and NTT Communication Science Laboratories. The project is ‘Deep scientific computing: integration of physical structure and deep learning through mathematical science‘ and will run from February 2024 to March 2027. The total amount of the grant is approximately 90 million JPY (approximately £475K) and is part of the ‘ASPIRE for Rising Scientists’.
