Professor Weinan E
Weinan E received the B.S. degree in mathematics from the University of Science and Technology of China in 1982 and the M.S. degree in mathematics from the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1985. His Ph.D. degree was awarded from UCLA in 1989. He has been a Professor with the Department of Mathematics and the Program for Applied and Computational Mathematics, Princeton University since 1999. In 2015, he became Director of the Beijing Institute of Big Data Research. Previously, he was a member of the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton and a Professor with the Courant Institute, NYU. He has authored or coauthored more than 200 articles on various topics, including the theory of machine learning and fluid mechanics. Prof. E was the recipient of numerous rewards and is a Fellow of the American Mathematical Society, the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, the Institute of Physics and the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
